Are Secret Forces Holding Back Your Progress?
by Erika Gombosova
If you're like me, and tons of evolving and moving forward folks,
I know you will be familiar with what I'm about to share with you.
Let me ask you a question.
(My favorite thing to do). Have
you ever been in a situation where you made an intention to move
to the next level in your business or in your life, and despite
your best efforts it wasn't happening?
It almost felt like there was a secret force that held
you back. Or maybe you're experiencing that right now?
If you're going to be honest with yourself then I'm sure you'll
answer 'Yes' to the question. It happens to most
of us at one point or another. How do I know that? For one, because
this is something I hear often from my clients and two, because
if you are an aware person and one that strives towards something
great in life, then you will naturally want to grow.
My definition of growth is moving
from your present state of comfort zone to a new expanded one with
intention and awareness.
Every time you are moving from where you are to where you want to
be; your
present way of doing things will be challenged and so will your
beliefs and your habits. How you perceive and work with what's going
on, will determine if it's going to happen with ease or with a lot
of struggle. Did you know that
deep down a lot of people have negative association and emotions
with moving forward in their biz or their life? Even
though sometimes what I just said is not very obvious on the surface.
So let's just use an example here.
There was a client I had who wanted to get to the top of her company
and be the best sales person. So she created a one year business
plan and an action plan to implement it. She started calling people,
creating relationships, going to a lot of appointments with people
and following the proven system that her company used many times
before.
Months into her hard work she came to see me, tired, frustrated,
confused and not knowing what to do. She said: 'I need help.
There is something missing for me because based on how much work
I'm putting in, I should be way more ahead and I'm not. What's wrong
with me? There are other people in the company who work much less
and they are making a lot of money and are much further than me.'
So after getting into the situation we have found where the glitch
was. This client as a child grew up in a less then financially stable
family. Sometimes they had no food to eat and went to sleep hungry.
They wore clothes bought from thrift shops because that's all they
could afford. And it has been instilled in her since an early age
that the only way to get anywhere in life is through hard work.
As a result, the combination of high goals and poverty consciousness
created a lot of struggle that appeared in her personal and professional
life. Her mental thermostat was set to:
 |
there is never enough |
 |
somehow I'm second rate, and |
 |
to get something out of life I have to work really
hard |
And this is where subconsciously she's been
functioning from and therefore creating.
She had worked hard, did everything on the outside to get to her
new goal. The more she didn't see the results, the harder she worked.
Once we looked at this, and she became aware and connected to this
piece of information, we could proceed forward.
There was more than one thing happening at the
same time:
 |
poverty conditioning instilled since
childhood (There is never enough, it is hard, you have to work
hard) |
 |
self-esteem challenge (I'm not good enough, I
don't deserve good and nice things) |
 |
too big of a goal set in a short amount of time
(too much, too soon, too fast, that ended up sabotaging instead
of motivating) |
Once we worked on addressing these core issues she
was able to move forward, make money and gradually move to the level
that she desired with ease.
Here is how you can recognize that there is a subconscious
pattern holding you back:
If you in fact can identify with most of these
statements, then chances are there is an unconscious pattern holding
you back.
To find answers to your dilemma, here is
what you can do:
1) Look at your past conditioning
Identify your conditioning around the subject you
are dealing with. It will empower you to get into the driver's seat
and it will give you inside information you can work with. That
is the beauty of the past; use it to your advantage instead of letting
it to disempower you.
2) Identify the core of your challenge
If you find yourself struggling, it is usually because
of one or more combination of the following rationales:
poverty consciousness, lack of confidence, goal is
too big.
Look at these 3 rationales and see how they affect you.
3) Create an action plan and stick to it
Now that you identified the patterns, create an action
plan to address them. Don't expect miracles over night. These things
take time. However it is imperative you take action. Without
action nothing will change. Wishful thinking doesn't get the job
done.
4) Get support to keep you accountable and moving forward
If you find yourself getting side tracked a lot and
unable to make significant progress by yourself, it is beneficial
to get someone to support you. Either get a friend, hire
a coach or other professional who can be a cheerleader and supporter
to strategize
and ensure your success. It always works for me.
So there you have it. If you would like my input or
my help, send me an
